Treat Yourself

Treating yourself doesn’t always mean going out and spending lots and lots of money on an item. Sometimes, treating yourself could be giving yourself an experience

“be you.

do you.

for you.”

This summer was not like any ordinary summer; I was given the opportunity to be an intern for Justice. This internship was by far one of the best things that I have done in my life. The exposure I had to the real fashion industry was unreal, and I loved every moment of it. It was your typical nine to five job, and someday I had to stay late to finish up a project, and it was great. Once the internship came to an end, I was a bit upset because I had to say goodbye to my workstation, my amazing mentors, and my glitter gang girls. I felt lost, and I needed to find a way to bring myself back

Of course, one of the first things that I tried was shopping therapy, but for once in my life, it was just not enough. It felt repetitive, and I didn’t find anything that was breathtaking. So I decided to treat myself by dedicating a weekend to my self and giving me the love I deserve.

The first thing I decided to do was to sleep in, its an infrequent occurrence for me to do. I usually have to wake up super early to go to work, school, or take my dog child, Poppy, to go poddy. Even though I only slept in until nine thirty am, it was still better than waking up at six or seven in the morning. The next thing I decided to do was to finally sit down, eat breakfast drink a cup of tea and enjoy my morning. I’m usually rushing out the door, and I grab a banana to eat on the road.

Even though these little things seem like nothing, It’s sometimes the little things that can indeed make a difference. The next item on the list is by far my favorite thing to do every morning, and that is to pick an outfit. This time I did not want to choose just any outfit. I wanted something that truly made me feel beautiful. I also went out and got my nails done, which I have not done since school ended. Having nails makes me feel like a bad b****. Excuse my french but I’ve been listening to Cardi B, and she has gotten to me.

Even though all these things sound lovely, I wanted to add something that I have never done before to my list, and that was to get a blowout.

Getting a Blowout was by far one of the most relaxing things that I have ever done. I went to The Blowout Bar in the Short North, and the place looked tré-chic, it was all white and very open. It felt comfortable but very trendy, and everyone was super friendly. They offered me tea, water or coffee and then they sat me down with a stylist. He was such a doll. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his name, but he was super friendly, and he knew what he was doing. I first got taken to wash and massage my hair, and it felt so lovely I nearly fell asleep on the chair. After he washed my hair, we sat down; he asked me what kind of Blowout I wanted. The Blowout names were hilarious, but I decided to go with the Bahama Mama, and I loved it! The volume that he was able to give me was unreal nothing like I have seen before. He also gave me some cute curls, and I was done! Super fast, cute and fun. Like I said before, I wanted to try something that I had never done before and getting pampered by someone else was the way to go. I didn’t necessarily have an important event to attend to, but it was nice to be all dolled up for some cute Instagram pictures.

Now you guys know, If you ever need anything fun to do with your friend or even alone like myself, getting a blowout if for sure the way to go. Besides, this location is perfect! Once you’re done with your blowout, you can go next door to the North Star cafe and have a nice little lunch. Definitely a 10/10 in my book!
